Graule Radial Arm Saw
Slide bearing replacement
On 5/8/03 I replaced the worn out spherical linear motion bearings on the sliding arm with new bearings I found at MSC (part #03582988 at $32.20 ea). It takes some care to get the slide to slide onto the arm without loosing balls or damaging seals (I did loose a ball or two and damaged 2 seals while figuring this out). The trick is to leave the plastic cup shaped shipping retainers inserted in the bearings with the cup open ends facing the shafts. Then as you push the slide, with the new bearings mounted, onto the shafts the shafts will push the cups out ahead of them as the slide goes on. I put the old bearings and cups in a workbench drawer for safe keeping.
