Suzuki GS850 Motorcycle Parts and Information
This bike was set up by Bob Wark of the Wark Shop with the Watsonian Squire sidecar that I had on my '76 Moto Guzzi Convert. After returning from a trip to Newfoundland and Labrador with a friend it was obvious the engine needs an overhaul. Pulling the chair, it runs fine and pulls strongly but above about 60 mph excessive blowby pushes oil out through the cylinder base gasket. What a mess that makes.
So there she sits awaiting a rebuild.
GS650L Carb cleaning and setting
(not sure if this applies to GS850 but it might).
Low speed mixture
The screws are sealed with threadlock - heat will break them loose. They are often set fully closed resulting in surging high idle - set at 3 turns out.
Float pins pressed in
The float pins are pressed in. Be careful here. It's easy to break the tabs while punching them out. A spring loaded center punch works well for this.
