Tombigbee riverfront, site 51 at Foscue Creek Park, Dec 01, 2008
The Demopolis Alabama Christmas on the River festival runs all week long
This park fills up during the week and is booked solid for the big weekend ending the festival - there's no site available to me here from Thursday on so I'll be heading out before Saturday night's Nautical Parade & Fireworks Display on the riverfront. When I was out getting this picture I realized I might be seeing the site of the parade up there where the river bends off to the left.
To quote the Demopolis AL Chamber of Commerce website:
Since its debut in 1972, Demopolis, Alabama's Christmas on the River has grown into one of the Southeast's leading attractions. People travel from coast to coast to see the floats that really float. Each year, events have been added until Christmas on the River has developed into a week long festival. This year, our festival takes place from Sunday, November 30th until Saturday, December 6th.
As in years past, we will gather to hear the reading of the Christmas Story in Public Square in Downtown Demopolis, the candlelight tours of our antebellum homes, and the famous championship BBQ cook-off.
Last year's attraction brought approximately 40,000 into Demopolis. We hope that you will put Christmas on the River on your list of "must do's" for this year!

People are Themselves
I hadn't realized before I wrote "Are You Somebody" that I for one need constantly to relearn a simple thing - that I do not understand other people as they understand themselves. Rob's reaction, and much more importantly, Nell's, made me understand that I am one person and other people are themselves, and not what I have decided they are.
